Emma keeps a close eye on your goods and makes sure every measurement reaches the cloud. This article explains how often Emma measures, and how often it sends that data to you.
In short
Emma measures at least every 15 minutes – day and night, whether it is moving or standing still.
Every measurement is sent to the cloud. Nothing is skipped or thrown away.
When things are calm, Emma waits up to 2 hours between sends – and then sends all the measurements it has collected since last time, in one go.
When something changes, Emma sends more often – or right away.

Measuring and sending are two different things
Emma does two separate jobs:
Measuring. At least every 15 minutes, Emma takes a reading and saves it in its own memory. This always happens, no matter how often Emma sends.
Sending. From time to time, Emma connects to the mobile network and sends all the saved readings to the cloud.
Sending uses much more battery than measuring. That is why Emma saves up readings and sends them together when nothing much is happening.
Example: Emma sends data at 10:00, and next time at 12:00. The 12:00 send includes all eight readings from 10:15, 10:30, 10:45 and so on up to 12:00. In your dashboard you see a complete temperature curve with no gaps.
How often Emma sends data
When conditions are stable
Emma sends at least every 2 hours.
Each send includes every 15-minute reading since the last send.
This saves battery during quiet periods – without losing any data.
When something is happening
Emma sends about every 15 minutes.
This starts when Emma notices temperature changes, movement or vibration.
You get a near real-time view while things are changing.
When something important happens
Emma sends right away if it detects:
A temperature change of more than 0.5 °C
Movement or an impact
Unusual vibrations or shocks
If there is no mobile coverage
Sometimes Emma can’t reach the mobile network – for example inside a container or in a remote area. When that happens:
Emma keeps measuring at least every 15 minutes.
It stores up to 14 days of readings in its memory.
As soon as it has coverage again, it sends everything it has stored.
The readings may arrive late, but they arrive complete – with no gaps in your data.
What this means for you
✅ Complete history: A reading at least every 15 minutes, and every reading reaches the cloud.
✅ Up-to-date data: Never more than 2 hours between sends when Emma has coverage – and much faster when something happens.
✅ Quick alerts: Important events are sent right away.
✅ Long battery life: Sending in batches during quiet periods makes the batteries last longer.
