How Your Emma Smart Tracker Collects and Sends Data

Learn how Emma collects sensor data & optimize battery life with adaptive reporting from 5min to 2hrs based on activity.

Updated over a month ago

Emma is designed to intelligently monitor your assets while maximizing battery life through smart data collection strategies.

How Often Your Tracker Samples Data

The Emma Smart Tracker continuously monitors environmental conditions using built-in sensors for:

  • Temperature - Constantly monitoring for changes

  • Movement & Vibration - Using advanced accelerometer technology

  • Light Conditions - Detecting environmental changes

  • Location - When movement is detected

The device samples sensor data continuously in the background, but only processes and stores important changes or events.

How Often Your Tracker Sends Data to the Cloud

Your ETD uses adaptive reporting - it automatically adjusts how often it sends data based on what's happening around your asset:

Normal Conditions (Stable Environment)

  • Every 2 hours when conditions are stable

  • This happens when temperature, light, and movement remain consistent

  • Maximizes battery life during quiet periods

Active Conditions (Changes Detected)

  • Every 5 minutes when activity is detected

  • Triggered by temperature changes, movement, or vibrations

  • Provides real-time visibility when something important happens

Immediate Alerts

  • Instant reporting for significant events:

    • Temperature changes beyond 0.5C

    • Movement or impact detection

    • Unusual vibrations or shocks

Smart Power Management

Energy Saver Mode

During extended periods of inactivity, your tracker may enter deep-sleep mode, reporting once every 24 hours to conserve battery while maintaining connectivity.

Offline Protection

If your tracker loses cellular connection temporarily:

  • It continues collecting data locally

  • Stores up to 14 days of data in internal memory

  • Automatically uploads stored data when connection resumes

  • No data loss during network outages

What This Means for You

Always Connected: Get real-time alerts when something important happens

Extended Battery Life: Smart reporting means longer time between charges

Complete Data History: Never lose tracking data, even during connectivity issues

Customizable: Reporting intervals can be adjusted based on your specific needs
