How to Set a Temperature Alert on a Device

Set a minimum and maximum temperature for a device and choose who gets an email when it goes outside the limits.

A temperature alert tells you as soon as a device goes below a minimum or above a maximum temperature. You can set it in the Devices view.

Set the alert

  1. Open Devices in the top bar.

  2. Find the device and click + Set Alert in the Alert column.

  3. Enter Min (<) and Max (>). Both are required. The alert triggers when the temperature goes below the minimum or above the maximum.

  4. Optional: enter Email recipients, separated by commas. Leave it empty if you don't want emails; the alert still shows in Signal.

  5. Click Create event.

The device now shows an alert chip with its limits, for example 35.6 – 46.4 °F.

Change or delete an alert

Click the alert chip in the Devices view. Change the limits or recipients and click Save changes, or click Delete event to remove the alert.

Tip: edit device alerts from the Devices view

Change a device's alert from the Devices view (and a group's alert from the Groups view). That way your email recipients are always kept.

What happens when it triggers

  • The device turns red on the map, in the list and in the Panel view, and it counts in the ALERT tile.

  • Everyone on the recipient list gets an email.

  • The alarm is logged under Historical alarms in the Alerts view.

Other kinds of limits

  • Group alerts apply to every device in a group. See Set a group temperature alert.

  • Route limits are set when a route starts. See Follow active routes.
