Device Status, Temperature Colors and Battery Levels Explained

A reference for what online/offline means, how Surfact Signal colors temperatures, and how to read the battery indicator.

Online and offline

A device is online if it has sent data in the last 3 hours. Otherwise it is offline and shown in gray. Emma sends less often when it's parked; see the Emma Smart Tracker collection.

Status colors

Signal checks these in order and uses the first that matches:

  1. Gray: offline.

  2. Red: the temperature is outside an alert limit.

  3. Green: on an active route.

  4. Neutral: no temperature alert set.

  5. Green: within its limits.

Limits can come from the device's own alert, an active route and any group the device belongs to. When several apply, Signal uses the strictest: the highest minimum and the lowest maximum.

Battery levels

The Battery column in the Devices view

  • High (green): 50 % or more.

  • Medium (orange): 20–49 %.

  • Low (red): below 20 %.

  • A warning icon: below 5 %. Replace the batteries soon.

Data refresh

Signal fetches new data every minute. You don't need to reload the page.
