Start Here: Getting Started with Surfact

New to Surfact? See how Emma Smart Trackers and the Surfact Signal dashboard work together, take the interactive product tour, and follow a short checklist for your first day.

Welcome to Surfact. This page gets you from a box of trackers to a fully monitored cold chain.

How Surfact works

  1. Emma Smart Tracker: a small, tough tracker that travels with your goods or sits in your cold room. It measures temperature (plus humidity, light, movement and more) and its position.

  2. The Surfact cloud: Emma sends its readings over the mobile network. If it loses coverage it stores the readings and sends them later, so nothing is lost.

  3. Surfact Signal: your dashboard at dashboard.surfact.com. See every device on a map, follow temperatures live, get alerts by email and download reports for customers and auditors.

Your first-day checklist

1. Log in

Go to dashboard.surfact.com and sign in with the email and password you got from Surfact. See How to Log In to Surfact Signal and Reset Your Password.

2. Find your devices

Your trackers appear on the map and in the device list. Each one has a serial number (for example 0b8-818-61a) that matches the label on the tracker. See Welcome to Surfact Signal.

3. Place your trackers well

Put each tracker close to the goods and away from the cooling unit's air stream, doors and vents. See Emma Smart Tracker: Quick Start in this collection.

4. Give devices clear names

Rename each device after the truck, trailer or room it's in, so everyone knows what they're looking at. See The Devices View.

5. Set temperature alerts

Set a min and max temperature and add the people who should get an email. Use a group alert for many devices at once. See How to Set a Temperature Alert on a Device and How to Set a Group Temperature Alert.

6. Start your first route (transport only)

Start a route when a shipment leaves and get a report automatically when it arrives. See How to Start and Stop Routes with QR, or Drivers: Start and Stop Routes by Scanning the QR Code for drivers.
